Buying International Travel Medical Insurance - What You Need To KnowPosted by Hecker Helen on October 31st, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
Today international travel for business or pleasure keeps growing at a fast pace and is unlikely to change in the near future. The most serious problem any international traveler faces when on the move is the possibility of having a medical problem in a foreign country. International travel medical insurance goes a long way in taking care of surprise medical problems. It offers temporary medical or health insurance for US citizens and foreign nationals when traveling anywhere outside of their home country.
Some domestic health insurance plans will cover you for some procedures and expenses away from home but many don’t, especially for major medical expenses. There are many types of international travel medical insurance on the market today including student travel medical insurance, travel accident insurance and even backpackers travel insurance.
It’s important to know that evaluating someone who has met with an accident or become ill in an isolated place can be terribly expensive. Many international insurance companies have a bi-lingual or multi-lingual staff and on-site medical staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for their policyholders for consultation and medical emergencies.
One way to lower your insurance costs is to agree to pay a small upfront medical cost for any future treatment needed and make a claim from the insurance company only when the amount exceeds that amount. For example, you could agree to pay the first $200 of any medical expenses and make a claim only when the cost of the treatment goes above it.
If you find a quality insurance company, it’ll take the financial worry of terrific medical expenses out of your travel experience. You can exclude a medical condition that is pre-existing which can lower your insurance costs, but you must be sure that the condition will not worsen on your trip and it could cost you a lot more. Any international traveler, expatriate or business traveler needs to be careful about the medical costs they could incur while traveling out of their home country.
Whatever compromise you choose to make in your plan between risks and costs, shop around not only for cheap international travel medical insurance plans, but also for the insurance company that gives you complete information, has open not hidden view functioning and doesn’t evade any of your questions.
The time frame on your insurance policy needs to be restricted to the actual time you’re out of the country; the shorter the duration will obviously reduce the cost. Some travel insurance plans don’t accept hazardous vocations such as mountain climbing. After you get your insurance, in case any minor emergency medical treatment is needed, have all the expenses listed in itemized bills to make a claim when you get back home.
Getting low cost or cheap international travel medical insurance quotes online from several insurance companies is easy enough to do. The watchword in your travel insurance should be attention to the smallest of details.
Some of the insurance policies don’t cover any pre-existing illnesses, and will ask for a history of any medical problems. All around the world medical costs are skyrocketing, due mostly to the advances in specialized equipment and the cost of advanced medicines and training specialists in a number of medical fields.
Finally international travel medical insurance is a must for all travelers going out of their home country. You want to make sure that evacuation coverage is included in your plan, because that can be a major expense; getting you out of a isolated or difficult location such as a cruise ship, mountain top or safari can be very costly.
Getting low cost or cheap health insurance is certainly a good possibility without giving up any quality care you might need away from home. International travel medical insurance quotes are easy to get online and an important travel necessity for individuals and families when they live or travel outside their home country. Just make sure you know exactly what is covered in your travel insurance policy.Article source: ContentLog.com

Travel Bargains - How Do You Get The Fantastic Travel Bargains You Often Hear Other People Get?
Travel Bargains - How Do You Get The Fantastic Travel Bargains You Often Hear Other People Get?Posted by Fab Sami on November 7th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
Once you have decided where you wish to go, there are two main avenues open to you to make your booking:
The first and easiest is to make one booking to include your flight, hotel, car hire, etc. This method is generally preferable if you are short of time. Travel agents can often offer good value, which is obtained from individual firms due to bulk buying.
Another main avenue open to you is to book your travel components individually. There are many speciality online search engines that allow you to find the best values for your needs.
Nevertheless, there are some other possible steps that you can take in order to get a better discount:
1. Book early. Generally, the nearer to the date of travel, the more expensive are the seats on flights. The only exception being if you can travel at a moment’s notice. In that case you can grab a last-minute package when someone cancels late.
Of course you’ll have to register with some travel agencies in order to be notified of last minute cancellations. But if you can’t travel at a moment’s notice, then book early.
2. If you are buying more than one ticket, further discount is possible.
3. Be flexible. Sometimes weekend outward and inwards journeys can be cheaper (less business travelers). Similarly, some flights which leave later at night can be cheaper.
4. If your timetable allows, consider taking indirect an indirect flight. Indirect flights take longer, but can be cheaper than direct flights.
5. If possible, consider traveling other than peak periods. For example, flights during certain periods such as school holidays, Christmas, and Easter are more expensive than other times.
6. All airlines overbook in order to compensate for no shows. Sometimes everyone shows up, in which case there are more passengers than seats! If you are offered, consider taking a later flight because it means further savings in the form of vouchers.
7. Another option may be to travel as ’stand by’. But this method usually means little or no notice before travel. Furthermore, you may have a long wait ahead until an empty seat becomes available.
8. For some lucky independent travelers, it is possible to fly as a ’courier’. Some companies will pay for your flight in exchange for delivering important letter and packages. However, do bear in mind that due to speciality firms, ’courier’ flights are very rare.
9. Buy a suitable travel insurance. In case of illness, accident, loss of property, etc, the insurance premium is money well spent to counter any eventualities.
The more time and effort you apply, the greater your savings are likely to be. In many instances, your savings can be substantial. So much so that you’ll be able to add extra days to your holiday at no extra charge!Article source: ContentLog.com

Travel Insurance: Is It Necessary?
Travel Insurance: Is It Necessary?Posted by Nutt Amy on November 9th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
So you want to leave the homeland for a while, see the sights, take the pictures, or perhaps, do some business. You’ve packed the swimming trunks, the extra layers, the hiking boots, the sun screen, but the question remains: is your medical insurance travelling with you? What happens if you get to Brazil like you always wanted to, and then, in a freak spilled mojito accident, you break your ankle? What if the escargot from that charming Parisian restaurant reacts badly with your American digestive system, and you are suddenly in the throes of the worst food poisoning you’ve experienced in your life? It is no small matter; according to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one half of US travelers heading to another country will experience some sort of health problem while abroad.
Ever since the Michael Moore film, "Sicko," came out, we all know that many other countries (well, specifically France, Canada, and Cuba) provide affordable, sometimes free, healthcare to their citizens, but how does it work for us, Americans, abroad? Well, the truth is, unless you make special preparations, the outlook is not good. There may be exceptions, and you should look into the fine print of your plan, but every major US health insurance providers suggests getting some form of traveler’s insurance. Unfortunately, there is no foreign country that provides free health care for travelers.
Travel insurance plans provide three types of coverage: for medical care when abroad, the cost of emergency medical evacuation, and reimbursement for sudden trip cancellations and lost luggage.
Should you require medical attention while abroad, most insurance companies provide support in the form of emergency hotlines. They will advise you on the best hospitals in the area, as well as the ins and outs of the local systems. It is strongly advised that, if possible, you consult your provider before seeking medical attention in a foreign land. Also, insurance providers warn that most third world countries hospital systems require payment upfront for services rendered. This fee would be reimbursed by the plan.
The most pressing concern is the case of an emergency medical evacuation from a foreign country back to the US. Evacuations are necessary when a very serious medical condition arises, and the traveler/patient must be transported back to the care of his/her primary care physician or a home-based expert. This can cost upwards of $10,000 as it is a coordinated effort between several hospitals and at least one airline. Most travel insurance plans provide the option for specific coverage for this contingency.
Another aspect to consider when travelling abroad, is the cost of sudden cancellations, or changes in travel plans as a result of medical or other emergencies. In an era when airline companies are logging record numbers of lost luggage, this aspect of travelers insurance provides reimbursement for the purchase of clothes and other necessities. In this sense, you could come out a winner: imagine an "emergency" shopping trip at the fabulous designer stores of Milan.
So, whether you are planning a road trip to Canada, or a fourteen day hike in Machu Pichu, pack some warm socks, swim trunks, and your new friend, Mr. Traveler’s Insurance.Article source: ContentLog.com

Bora Bora as a Luxury Travel Destination
Bora Bora as a Luxury Travel DestinationPosted by Jaegel Wolfgang on November 10th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
Bora Bora is perhaps the most beautiful island in the world. With its two soaring mountain peaks, the Mount Otemanu and the Mount Pahia piercing out of the sky, Bora Bora is truly an incredible destination, and is much favored for its green tropical slopes, hibiscus-blossom valleys, stunning white sandy beaches, and enchanting lagoons circled by palm-fringed motus, which in turn gives it a look of a delicate necklace.
In short, Bora Bora is a love at first sight. No wonder, why honeymooners, lovers, and couples flock here throughout the year to renew their marriage vows as well as to rekindle their romantic feelings.

When comes to activities, the destination is truly a haven to enjoy a continuum of water sport activities such as scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, wind surfing, surfing, jet boating, and jet skiing. For water adventurers, some excellent options are available in the form of parasailing and deep sea sport fishing, all of which are at the same time thrilling and fun to do.
However, activities that can be enjoyed in Bora Bora are not just confined to water sport activities. Adventurers can also take advantage of such activities available here as four-wheel drive safaris, which is a great way to explore the breathtaking views as well as the rich flora of the island. Golf Travel Bags Make Lovely Gifts
Golf Travel Bags Make Lovely GiftsPosted by Khurana Ajeet on November 10th, 2007 in Home
Golf travel bags make excellent gifts for anyone who enjoys golfing. They allow you to transport your golf clubs safely and without you having to worry about damaging them. They also come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors. So how do you know which one you need? It really depends on who the golf travel bag is for.
Like I said before, golf bags come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors. However, the look of the bag is not the only thing you should consider when buying one - especially for a gift. Perhaps one of the most important things to consider is what kind of distances will the person travel that you are purchasing the gift for.
If they travel fairly substantial distances with their golf clubs, then you will definitely want to get something sturdy and strong. In this case, I would suggest buying a hard sided golf bag which is also known as a golf travel case. This is particularly true if the person travels on airplanes on a regular basis. An advantage of using golf cases while flying is airlines will often pickup the cost of replacing any damaged golf clubs if your golf clubs were in one of these protective cases during the flight.
Another advantage is of course the peace-of-mind knowing that your golf clubs should be well protected from any damage during the trip. If you are confident that the person you are buying this gift for does not frequently travel long distances with their golf clubs, then you should be able to get by with purchasing a soft sided golf bag. In fact, I would strongly suggest going this route in this case.
An advantage of using a soft sided golf bag is that the bags themselves typically include several pockets for you to put gloves, shoes, etc. into. They are also less bulky and can fit easier into the trunk of a car. Soft sided golf travel bags also typically come with wheels that make it easier to transport the clubs from place to place.
Again, knowing what features the golf bag would need would depend on who the bag is for. If they use golfing shoes, then they would probably appreciate the fact there is a place to put them in the bag.
In addition to the sturdiness of the golf bag, cost is obviously going to be a factor that you will want to consider. Not surprisingly, golf travel cases are typically more expensive than soft sided golf travel bags. However, the difference in cost is not massive and there are some golf travel bags that are more expensive than the cases.
Most golf travel cases will cost you around $150 while the average golf travel bag will cost around $75. However, some golf travel bags can cost you well over $200. Of course the differences in prices are often a reflection of the differences in name brand, quality and features.Article source: ContentLog.com

Importance of Accident Insurance for Travel
Importance of Accident Insurance for TravelPosted by Machara Ryan on November 11th, 2007 in Finance
Fifty years ago when families traveled on vacation or to see relatives, they never worried about what would happen. Traveling by air was limited to families that could afford it, while the worst thing traveling by car was children fighting in the backseat. However, today things have drastically changed. Air flight is more common now than ever, and world travel has become even more prominent. Travel has also become more uncertain as terrorist attacks and political unrest in certain locations have left individuals worrying about their safety. While travel to any destination can’t provide complete certainty and safety, some companies are offering accident insurance for travel to put consumers’ fears at ease.
Accident insurance for travel is a great idea, especially for individuals planning to travel outside of the United States. You never know exactly what is going to happen, thus it is best to always be prepared. Not only does accident insurance for travel cover emergency situations, but it also ensures that you actually get where you want to go.
Individuals who purchase accident insurance for travel don’t have to worry about their trip getting canceled. The insurance will reimburse them for the money they lost. This can be a huge relief due to the fact travel can cost thousands of dollars. A cruise is an example of a great time to purchase travel insurance. Hurricanes, storms and flu breakouts on a ship can all result in trips being canceled. If you have travel insurance you can easily get your money back. Travel insurance is also a good idea for individuals or groups traveling to the Middle East or other areas in the world where political unrest could cause your trip to be canceled or delayed.
A medical emergency is another reason many individuals choose to purchase accident insurance when they are traveling. You never know when there will be an accident leaving you injured or when you will get sick during a vacation. In the event you need to seek medical attention, accident insurance can cover it. This can be especially beneficial if you travel outside the United States where you aren’t covered by your regular medical insurance.
In addition to covering medical emergencies and canceled trips, travel insurance also covers other things that may happen on your vacation. For example, if your luggage gets lost by the airport you can get reimbursed for its contents by your travel insurance.
Finally many individuals and families purchase accident insurance for travel to help them relax while they travel. You can have peace of mind while you travel knowing that no matter what happens you will be covered. This sense of security can mean the difference between you enjoying your vacation and spending it constantly worrying about what could go wrong.
If you are planning to take a vacation soon, you should check into the cost of purchasing accident insurance for travel. While the price may be more than you wanted to pay, it can be well worth the cost in the event something goes wrong on your vacation.Article source: ContentLog.com

Lap Band Surgery - Know The Facts, Costs And Travel Options
Lap Band Surgery - Know The Facts, Costs And Travel OptionsPosted by Hecker Helen on November 12th, 2007 in Health
If you choose to have weight loss surgery, it’s clearly an important life-changing medical decision and a significant financial decision too. There have been significant changes in the lap band type of surgeries. One difference is in the early days of the surgeries between the LAP BAND system and the Swedish adjustable lap band is that the SAGB didn’t have a self-closing mechanism and had to be closed with sutures. If the bariatric or lap band surgeon gives you approval for lap band surgery after an extensive initial consultation, you’ll then be required to have pre-op exams and lab tests before you can be medically cleared for surgery.
If any candidate for surgery has a dependency on alcohol or drugs, they won’t be eligible for adjustable band surgery. Mentally disabled or emotionally unstable people also can’t be considered. In general, gastric banding, including the Lap Band procedure and weight loss system can be indicated for people for whom their Body Mass Index is above 40, or for those who are 100 pounds (45 kg) or more over their estimated ideal weight according to the still-used-today 1983 Metropolitan Life Insurance Tables. Or for those with a BMI between 30 and 40 with co-morbidities, which may improve with weight loss. Co-morbidity examples include: high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis.
The failure of dietary treatment or weight-loss drug therapy for a year or more can make someone eligible for the adjustable gastric band procedure. The lap band surgery is usually not performed if the patient has an untreated glandular disease such as hypothyroidism, where other measures may still work.
If after surgery, the adjustable gastric band patient is considering pregnancy, ideally he or she should be in the best nutritional condition prior to the conception. Deflation of the band may be required prior to the planned conception. There are many port designs and they may be placed in a variety of positions based on the preference of the weight loss surgeon. The band is inflated and adjusted by use of a small access port placed just under the skin subcutaneously. Radiopaque isotonic solution or saline is then introduced into the band via the placed port.
The surgeon uses a special needle to avoid damage to the sensitive port membrane. And calcium supplements and Vitamin B12 injections are not usually ordered following gastric banding as they are with Roux-en–Y gastric bypass surgery and other weight loss surgeries. When fluid is ingested into the stomach the lap band expands, placing pressure around the outside of the stomach. This then decreases the size of the passage in the stomach and restricts the movement of any food.
The initial weight loss in gastric banding is slower than with the permanent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery but statistics indicate that over a five year period the weight loss outcome is very similar. The weight loss surgery patient may be prescribed a liquid only diet, followed by soft foods and then solid foods for a prescribed length of time.
Each surgeon and manufacturer will vary in their post-surgery instructions. To allow time for the stomach to heal, many doctors make the first adjustment between six to eight weeks after surgery. After the surgery, adjustments, which are also called ’fills’, may be performed using a fluoroscope so the radiologist can assess the placement of the band, the port and the tubing, which runs between the port and the band. Then after that the ’fills’ are performed only as needed.
For moms-to-be, the lap band may remain deflated during pregnancy and once breast feeding or bottle-feeding is completed the band may gradually be re-inflated to help with postpartum weight loss if it’s necessary.
Regarding complications, some of the mechanical malfunctions that can happen after surgery include port leakage, cracking of the kink-resistant tubing or disruption of the tubing connection from the port to the band, port site pain and port displacement. On occasion, the narrow passage into the lower part of the stomach can become blocked by a large portion of food that is not chewed.
And some of the adjustable gastric band after-surgery digestive complications include nausea, vomiting, gastro-esophageal reflux, stoma obstruction, constipation, dysphagia, diarrhea, and abnormal stools. Erosion can occur. This is where the band may wear a small area on the outside of the stomach which can lead to the migration of the band to the inside of the stomach.
The amount you pay for your surgery will vary. There isn’t an established cost or price for lap band surgery. Your surgery may or may not be covered under your current health insurance plan. If not, travel to other countries for weight loss surgery has become more popular. Travel to Mexico is just one way to get a low cost lap band surgery. There are many countries offering cheap or low cost weight loss surgery or lap band surgery. Compare costs of surgery along with all travel expenses.
Make sure if you’re traveling away from home for surgery though, to consider the travel time and related travel expenses for both the surgery and the follow-up appointments. Do not underestimate the number of follow-up appointments you might need and find out if you can do those in the US or your country of residence. Many factors can affect the total cost of lap band surgery, including the gastric surgeon you choose, the country you choose to have the surgery performed in and what fees are included or not included in the total price.Article source: ContentLog.com

Air Travel Makes Vacations Abroad Brisk
Air Travel Makes Vacations Abroad BriskPosted by Brown Jim on November 13th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
When people want to travel abroad during the year, they feel an urgent desire to get to their resort destination as soon as possible. A long time ago, travelers were severely limited in modes of travel and would often have to travel abroad by boats and a quick vacation was never possible because it could take weeks to reach foreign lands and more time for the ship to dock and the passengers to disembark.
The urgent desires for many travelers headed abroad for the holidays are now much more brisk. Passengers have the opportunity to rush through large airports that are designed with railway systems that will ensure that travelers get from one end to the other in the shortest amount of time. Passengers are still afforded opportunities to shop along the way because there are duty free shops everywhere in the airport terminal and any passenger that is not too rushed can find great bargains.
The processing of passengers is brisk at the check-in terminals if the passenger has followed all of the rules about packing and does not have any items in the luggage that are considered contraband. The scanning procedures by airport security personnel are also brisk and passengers pass through one scanner after the other on the way to the flight of their dreams that go to locations all around the globe.
Some airline passengers might choose to arrive early for their flights just so they can avoid the crowds. They want to savor that first cup of coffee in the morning and pass briskly through the scanners enroute to a vendor in the airport that serves the best java in the land. Any purchase is rapidly processed through the use of machines that swipe credit and debit cards for payment.
Travelers can plan to travel abroad and do some brisk banking while they are at the airport. The waiting periods between boarding flights can be used to convert currencies of one country to another and these currencies can be converted again if the traveler is planning some air travel to other foreign lands. Once people go through the passport process that is not so brisk at times they can enjoy quick vacations to anywhere in the world.
Some people plan ahead for vacations to lands that are cold and temperatures are frigid. There are some travelers who think the temperatures on aircraft are quite brisk and they choose to dress warmly for these trips. When they arrive safely at the terminal, they might be surprised by the brisk winds and cold temperatures outside the confines of the aircraft that they consider now to be quite warm and cozy. Some travelers did not expect such a change in temperature because only hours before they were seated in the warm confines of their home.Article source: ContentLog.com

Cancun Travel - The Best Vacation Of Your Life
Cancun Travel - The Best Vacation Of Your LifePosted by Olson Alex on November 14th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
Cancun, South East Mexico. A tropical place of beauty, history and relaxation. Located on the Yucatan Peninsular in the state of Quintana Roo, Cancun is very different to the rest of Mexico and is split into two main areas - Zona Hotelera (an 18km long island) and Ciudad Cancun (the mainland.) Both of these areas are connected together with a causeway, making access very easy via taxi, bus or even just walking.
Zona Hotelera faces the Carribean on one side and has a lagoon (the Laguna Nichupte) on the other. Most of the people live on the mainland (Ciudad Cancun) which is also where the hotels and resorts are located. This has meant that the Zona Hotelera hotel is quite free from mass commercialization in many respects. Cancun also offers some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the world, which includes the fifth largest coral reef in the world (The Belize Reef) that has black coral (coral lovers will know that black coral is quite rare.)
There are also plenty of water sports for the person who enjoys a vacation with a bit more action. The selection of excellent resort hotels, classy restaurants, local pubs and bars and a large night-life with clubs makes for a great holiday spot for all kinds of people. Shoppers will enjoy the shopping facilities (five large shopping centers, or street shopping.) For those who want to relax a little more, Cancun’s lagoons, sandbars, mangrove swamps, cenotes (waterholes) and beautiful beaches are what you would be looking for.
But you could probably get a lot of the above (besides the coral reefs etc.) at most other places in the world. One of the things that sets Cancun apart are the Maya sites and ruins nearby. These ruins are fascinating in every respect - full of mystery and history. Coba nearby boasts of the largest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula, and the ancient sites of Uxmal, Ruta Puuc and Merida are highly recommended. All of the ancient sites are very well kept, and will pique even the interest of those that don’t enjoy history.
Cancun is also a great place for a vacation in the sense that it can cater very well for all kinds of budgets. Although the mainland has many top class hotels, there are also smaller resorts or places where you can stay if you are on a cheaper budget. Transport is easy in and around the city as well, and there are many tourism operations offering you transport to the ancient sites or several islands which lie offshore nearby.
The only drawback to Cancun, as with a lot of popular tourist destinations, is that if you’re the kind of person who wants serious quiet and relaxation, Cancun can be quite busy with its ’party’ sort of atmosphere. But if you’re looking for a place where there is lots to do, see and enjoy, Cancun will be a very good choice.Article source: ContentLog.com

Business Travel In The European Union - What’s Working
Business Travel In The European Union - What’s WorkingPosted by Yee James on November 14th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
The open borders, once seen as a hallmark of true freedom and democracy (and the almost exclusive domain of the United States), has become almost commonplace, as millions of Europeans travel freely between countries to work, vacation or study every day.
It has simplified traveling in Europe for businesspeople from around the world, as well. If you’re planning a trip in the near future, you should know that the Euro is used by 12 of the 25 countries in the EU, which means the expensive and time-consuming business of changing money at borders has become a thing of the past. Banks within the EU no longer charge fees for cash withdrawals at ATM machines outside of the user’s country of residence. (Of course, your bank may still tack on fees for international transactions).
Economically, the common market and deregulation of state monopolies has brought costs down for things like telephone service and utilities. Business travelers can now find low-cost direct flights between cities and countries that were once expensive and required travelers to change planes or airlines. Mobile phone users can use a single service from Portugal to the Polish/Ukrainian border, with no additional charges or fees.
Cross-cultural activities, events and exhibitions are being promoted like never before, thanks to grants from the EU Union. Most schools offer bilingual programs, and English is the language of business, science and technology.
There are some differences still, however. European workers receive longer vacations and shorter workweeks than their counterparts in America and Asia. In many cultures, businesses close their doors between 12 and 2 or 12 and 4, and business is conducted until 7 or 8 at night.
In many countries, formality is considered the norm, and business acquaintances don’t call each other by first names, and some subjects are considered rude — such as discussing money at the beginning of business. Be aware that if you’re invited to lunch or dinner, business is not usually discussed until after the meal, which can take two hours or longer.
Be sure to take the usual precautions when traveling, whether for business or pleasure. Keep your passport, money and other valuables in a safe place. And pay attention to what is going on around you at all times. Pack an extra set of clothing and any business materials you’re going to need for meetings in your carry-on luggage, just in case your suitcases end up visiting Rome while you’re in Switzerland — because as much as some things have changed, some things remain the same!Article source: ContentLog.com

Your Travel Guide On Packing A Suitcase
Your Travel Guide On Packing A SuitcasePosted by Brown Jim on November 16th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
When it comes to packing for a trip, some people just don’t know how to and they end up stuffing their suitcases with too many items that end up not being used on the actual trip itself. It is important that you learn to pack the essentials. With these travel packing tips, packing lightly will not be that hard.
The first step would be choosing the right luggage or suitcase to pack in your travel essentials. Good, quality luggage is an investment which could last you for more years to come. You would want the contents of your luggage to be protected right? If you want to ease your shoulders the burden of carrying a bag, then choose luggage with wheels for easy transport.
If you are in a hurry after you disembark from the plane, it is advised that you carry on your luggage. In this manner, you save time from waiting for your bags on the conveyor belt or you don’t risk losing them (although this rarely happens). Carry on luggage though has dimension restrictions which vary from airline to airline. This means you have to pack less and if you have kids with you such will not be a good option. If you have to check in luggage, make sure that you label them accordingly and remove unnecessary tags in order that it won’t get lost and it’ll arrive to you safely.
The first and important packing tip to remember is to bring only what you need. Think about the weather and the activities that you will be engaged in. Pack clothes that you could mix and match and bring at least one dressy outfit. For shoes, bring an extra pair and wear a comfortable pair.
Aside from the clothes, don’t forget to pack toiletries in travel size so that these items will not occupy that much luggage space. Place them inside sealed plastic bags to avoid any leakage that could ruin your clothes. As much as possible, put these in a separate compartment away from your clothes.
Forcing too many items in your suitcase can result to wrinkly clothes. As long as you pack only the necessary stuff, you’ll have more than enough room for everything that you will be bringing plus you’ll have some space saved for souvenirs or items that you may pick along your trip. Rolling shirts and pants can also save a lot of room.
Plan ahead and don’t wait until the last minute to do your packing.Article source: ContentLog.com

Air Travel Is Easier With These Helpful Tips
Air Travel Is Easier With These Helpful TipsPosted by Brown Jim on November 16th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
You can always make your air travel experience smooth sailing even before you board the plane. For instance, you can ask your travel agent in advance to book you for a special airline meal for your flight. Most of the time, your food will be served first and before others’ will be. It doesn’t necessarily have to be for people with special needs like kosher food or a diabetic meal. You could as well ask for vegetarian meals or those which are low fat.
Business class travel would be the way to go for an all out relaxing time during the flight. It is very much possible for you to secure these seats without actually paying for them. If you travel frequently especially on one particular airline, you can apply for a frequent flyer’s program. Here, you collect points and rewards which you could later on redeem for free flights or seat upgrades.
Having jet lag can be tiring especially if you still have a lot to do once you arrive at your destination. You can actually prevent from having a jet lag if you avoid drinking alcohol during the flight and instead drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. Stretch on your seat or walk around the plane especially on long flights to promote blood circulation inside your body. As much as possible if you will be crossing to another time zone, sleep according to your destination’s time zone.
Your flight will be relaxing if you choose to fly early in the morning. The great thing about early morning flights is that not so many people want to get such flights and so the airport and the plane will be less crowded. If you want to get to the airport early enough for the flight, you could always arrange to stay at the airport hotel or a hotel very near the airport.
If you could not secure an early morning flight, find another flight schedule but as much as possible avoid peak flying times. The crowd will get you more agitated plus security is heightened more when there are more people resulting to longer queues and lines.
Some airlines provide the convenience of online check-in to avoid waiting at long counter lines. However, you cannot use this feature if you have any luggage to check in.
Be at the airport as early as possible for you can never tell when any untoward incidents may occur along the way. Airports nowadays recommend that you be there at least 3 hours in advance as going through the current security actually takes time. When you are not in a rush, you feel more relaxed and at ease.
Booking for non-stop flight will save you time instead of getting off on one plane and boarding on another again. However, if there is no available non-stop flight; ensure that the schedule gives a time allowance for you to get on your next connecting flight.Article source: ContentLog.com

International Travel Medical Insurance Tips To Help You Find The Cheapest Now
International Travel Medical Insurance Tips To Help You Find The Cheapest NowPosted by Hecker Helen on November 16th, 2007 in Recreation and Leisure
The domestic travel insurance plans are not designed to function very well with hospitals and doctors overseas, which can add to your frustration if you have problems while you’re traveling. The most serious problem the international traveler faces when he or she is on the move is the possibility of having a serious medical problem or uncovered travel insurance medical condition in a foreign country. However international travel medical insurance goes a long way in helping to take care of the problem.
In general terms, in the travel insurance market there are two types of insurance: travel medical insurance (or also called travel health insurance) which is more heavily weighted to cover you for any health-related problems that might occur while traveling outside of your home country and has a lesser amount of trip cancellation coverage included and the other type is trip cancellation insurance.
International travel for business or pleasure keeps growing at a fast pace and isn’t going to change anywhere in the near future. There are many types of international travel medical insurance today including student travel medical insurance, travel accident insurance and even backpackers travel insurance.
The watchword in international travel health insurance should be prudence and attention to the smallest details. Make sure to keep handy the addresses and phone numbers of the persons who are to be notified in the event you need to make a claim while you’re away. In case any emergency medical treatment is needed, have all the expenses listed in itemized bills so you can make your claim in the US or Canada.
It’s possible to get cheap international travel medical insurance. Some insurance policies don’t cover any pre-existing illnesses, and the agents will ask for a history of any health or medical problems. Medical costs all around the world are skyrocketing right now, due mostly to the advances in specialized equipment and the cost of advanced medicines and training specialists in a many different fields.
Be aware that you can exclude a medical condition that is pre-existing which can lower your insurance costs but you must be sure that the condition will not worsen while you’re are on your trip and cost you a lot more. Make sure that you have your coverage in place before you go abroad. Health insurance in the United States, like Medicare, should be carefully checked for the extent of the coverage in case you need to buy additional coverage.
There are so many types of health insurance today, each with its own range of small blueprints, that sometimes you’re better off getting help from reputable brokers or other professionals who are in the know. Whatever compromise you choose to make between the risks and the costs in your plan, shop around not only for cheap international travel medical insurance plans, but also for a stable reputable company that gives you total information, functions with an open view and does not evade any of your questions. The time frame for the insurance policy needs to be restricted to the actual time that you’re out of the country. The shorter this duration the lesser the cost, so shave off a few dollars there.
There are a few group insurance plans that are fairly cheap. If you’re with a tour group for foreign travel or a visiting business group or delegation you could save money with group travel medical insurance. Some international travel health insurance plans don’t accept hazardous vacations such as skydiving, paragliding, mountain climbing or ice skating. You want to make sure that the emergency evacuation is fully covered in any travel insurance that you buy.
International travel medical insurance is definitely a must for all travelers going out of their home country today. Whether you need coverage for your vacation or your relatives are visiting you from the old country, you want to make sure you all have proper coverage for any unforeseen major medical expenses
Remember that your greatest financial risk while you’re traveling outside of your home country is if you encounter any major health or medical problems. You want to avoid this risk with the proper coverage. If you already have travel insurance, check to make sure that it covers all major medical expenses including evacuation. Getting low cost or cheap international travel medical insurance is certainly possible without giving up any quality care you might need to have away from home.Article source: ContentLog.com
